I arrived at Notre Dame in mid-Oct 1989. Winter that year was bitter. I remember walking into then University Libraries with Fr. Ted who assured me that that winter was mild compared to the winter of 1930 something.

During my tenure in the Libraries, I learned to love ND football and Lady Irish bb. I delayed retirement a year or two in hopes that the Fighting Irish would win another national championship. (Ha!) My retirement party was on Morris Inn's patio on a 90+ degree hot day. (Full circle).

Since retiring, I am in touch with librarians and other friends and neighbors not only from ND but also from South Bend and around the country. (Zoom is great!) I moved to Pittsburgh, bought a condo close by the cultural district, gutted it, and built it back better, to borrow a phrase.

My 2021 plan is to be a snowbird. While I await the reopening of the theaters and concert halls, I am a card-carrying member of The Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh with plans to get ND plates for my RAV4 Hybrid AWD, but find the days fly by so it's on my to-do list. Hope to keep healthy and be in touch.
