Bob Alworth joined the University of Notre Dame in January of 2009 as the Director of the Integrated Engineering and Business Practices Program in the College of Engineering. He served as Associate Dean of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the College of Science and the College of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame from September of 2009 through November 2011.
   
Prior to joining Notre Dame, he had more than 34 years of experience in the industry at S&C Electric Company and General Electric. S&C provides electrical equipment, power quality solutions, and engineering services to the global electric utility industry and electric power users. As Senior Vice President of S&C Electric Company for the 13 years prior to joining the University of Notre Dame, he was responsible for the leadership of domestic and international business operations, technology development and venture acquisitions, new product design, manufacturing operations, and product marketing.
   
Prior to his tenure at S&C, Bob worked in various business units at General Electric (1974 to 1989), serving in a number of leadership positions with responsibility for manufacturing, sales, marketing, and research and development. At General Electric, he was involved with businesses providing superabrasives, electrical laminates, and high-performance polymers.
   
Bob has been a member of the Executives’ Club of Chicago, the NEMA Power Equipment Division, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Power and Energy Society and Industrial Applications Society. He has also served on the advisory committee for Northwestern University’s Manufacturing Engineering Program, as well as the board of directors for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Manufacturing Association, and Peoples Bank and Trust.
