Lou Jordan has a PhD in Medieval Studies. He was elected a member of the Comité International de Paleographie Latine as a fellow emeritus of the American Numismatic Society.
He worked at the Hesburgh Library from 1980 to 2021 as a librarian at the Medieval Institute. He was appointed Director of Rare Books and Special Collections and subsequently became Associate University Librarian for Academic Services and Collections.
