Richard (Rick) Klee served as the Tax Director for the University from April 1998, until September 2019. In his position as the University’s first Tax Director, Rick coordinated the University's efforts related to income, information, property, sales, trust and payroll tax issues, as well as other tax compliance services.
   
He was a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Tax Council for 10 years and was a frequent speaker at college and university and other not-for-profit conferences. Rick won NACUBO’s national “Tax Award” in 2013. In addition to his tax duties, Rick enjoys presenting to Notre Dame Clubs through the Alumni Association.
   
Prior to working at Notre Dame, Rick worked for 15 years as the CFO for a 65 physician multi-specialty group, and he also worked for seven years in the tax and audit fields with Ernst & Young, the international public accounting firm.
   
As the former Assistant Rector of Keenan Hall, Rick helped organize the very first Keenan Review. The highlight of Rick’s ND athletic career was reaching the “Final 4” in Bookstore Basketball. Rick and his wife Diane (SMC '77, ND’11) are the parents of 4 children (all Notre Dame or St. Mary’s graduates) and grandparents of 9.
