Valerie Sayers, Emerita in the Department of English, published several short stories recently: "I Don't Need It, I Just Want It," appeared in the Fall 2023 issue of Massachusetts Review; "Little Tyrant" was in the Spring 2023 issue of Denver Quarterly; and "A Good-Looking Guy," which was published in the Fall 2022 Missouri Review, received a "Special Mention" in the Pushcart Prizes 2024, edited by Bill Henderson (Pushcart/Norton). Her review of Anne Enright's new novel, The Wren, the Wren, appeared in the October 2023 Commonweal.

She also taught two fiction workshops for the Pat Conroy Literary Center in Beaufort, SC, in March and October 2023, and continues to serve on the faculty advisory committee for the Moreau College Initiative at Westville Correctional Institute as well as the Board of Directors for the Pat Conroy Literary Center.
