JoAnn DellaNeva is Professor Emerita of Romance Languages and Literatures, where she taught for just over 40 years before retiring in December 2022. Her previous scholarship on Renaissance literature explored principally questions of Franco-Italian literary relations and imitation theory and practice, including the influence of Ciceronianism on vernacular literatures. She also studied imitation within the context of Petrarchism, focusing on the poetry of Marot, Scève, Du Guillet, Du Bellay, Magny, Ronsard, and Desportes. Recently, she began work on imaginary portrayals of the reign of Henry VIII in Early Modern European literature. She recently published an edition, translation, and analysis of Lancelot de Carle’s poem on the death of Anne Boleyn with ACMRS press and is currently working on a book on representations of Mary Tudor, Queen of France (sister of Henry VIII).
